Asok Kumar Pulikkaparambil Madhavan (born 17 February 1966), also known by the nickname Asokettan, is an former Indian professional footballer who captained Tamilnadu & Railway Football team in Santhosh trophy. He played as a striker, where he formed a successful attacking style and mesmerizing captaincy for his team in early 2000s.
Asok Kumar started his career with the Tamil nadu football team as Captian and rose to become one of the top names in Santhosh trophy. A highly aggressive player, he eventually became the highest scoring player in the league as well as a regular choice in the Santhosh trophy and other similar leagues.
Asok's talents attracted interest from the Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Railway Football Teams, although he spent his entire career in State Bank of India until retirement. By the end of his career he had scored 31 goals from 46 matches for his team. Since retiring from football, Asok Kumar has set upped several football coching Camps and Workshops to train young players both in his home town & other districts for free of cost and trained almost 5500+ till date.
Asok Kumar has also worked as permenant employee in State Bank of India for 37 years, and received many promotions & achievement during the journey. He also associated and served for State Bank of India team during this entire period.
Family
Asok Kumar P. M., born on February 2, 1966, in Thrissur, is the beloved son of the late Madhavan and Saraswathy. Raised in a nurturing and value-centered family, he grew up embracing strong cultural traditions and a deep sense of responsibility.
He is married to Sharmily T. V., and together they have built a warm and caring family life. They are blessed with two children: their elder son, Akash P Ashok, and their daughter, Amritheswari P Ashok.
As a devoted husband and father, Asok Kumar takes great pride in his family and cherishes the moments they share together. The family currently resides in their hometown of Thrissur, where they continue to stay connected to their roots, community, and cherished memories.
